A new section of the Intranet providing access to news and bulletins featuring information of interest for R+D+i activities

The new Technology Watch Service launched by the Research and Transfer Support Office (OSRT) provides specialised, tailor-made information for developing R+D+i activities. The OSRT's Knowledge Transfer Unit has designed a web tool that provides the UOC's R+D+i staff with filtered, quality informacion to keep them informed about developments related to research, innovation and knowledge transfer activities.

This new service is incorporated as a new section on the OSRT Intranet that is accessible to R+D+i staff using their username and password.

Bulletins
A bulletin containing general information and bulletins featuring specialised  information. The new Technology Watch Service offers users the latest news items and scientific articles, as well as information about workshops, grants, regulations, technology, and knowledge supply and demand. It also provides other useful, specialised information that can be accessed as well as shared. The format that brings all this information together into one place is the bulletin.

All users of the service receive an email alert about the new general bulletin, which includes information that affects all the UOC's R+D+i activities. In addition, so as to keep research groups informed, specialised bulletins about particular subject areas are sent out using the same system.

Although users are signed up for specific specialised bulletins developed during the pilot study for the service, users can subscribe to any of the specialised bulletins as they are introduced, whenever they choose.

Ongoing improvements to the service
In association with experts in each subject area, the Technology Watch team makes decisions about appropriate information sources and key words when selecting content that is relevant to each subject area. However, users of the service can help to improve it by recommending to those responsible for the service information sources of interest to add to their databases.

Forward-looking
The Technology Watch Service is designed as a forward-looking tool that offers a wide range of bulletins enabling users to find more, better quality information, as well as carry out complex searches and access cross data in a personalised manner.
