Higher education cannot simply be a process
that ends with the official certificate.
There is a need to reinvent
the university, broaden
its scope of action and
reconnect it with society.
This process implies changing
the ways in which students learn,
the meaning of what has been learnt
and the impact of individual and
collective learning.
Innovating means breaking out and bringing
different people, experiences and skills together.
Education must prepare professionals and citizens
to deal with the global challenges our society faces.
Knowledge is created both inside
and outside of the university.
The university must be an asset
to the world of business, a partner
for companies and start-ups.
People should be given opportunities
to learn throughout their lives, and not
just until they get a bachelor's degree or
postgraduate qualification.
The university must make an ongoing contribution
to the development of individuals, businesses,
institutions and society in general.
The achievements of the university must be
measured by its social return - the social impact
of its teaching and research.
