About PyroLife

PyroLife is an innovative training network focused on integrated fire management. Integrated fire management is an approach that seeks to reduce the risks and maximize the benefits of fire by integrating the knowledge and experiences of a wide range of stakeholders, including scientists and academics, professionals, public administrations, landowners, local communities and firefighters.

The network, comprising 26 organizations and funded through the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme, provides support to 13 early-stage researchers working on interdisciplinary research projects focusing on wildfires.

About the conference

Three years after the founding of PyroLife, this conference will bring together early- and later-stage researchers in the field of integrated fire management to share project results and discuss the education and training of future generations of fire scientists.

The conference has three clear goals: (1) to present the results of PyroLife projects conducted by the network's early-stage researchers; (2) to debate the current and future situation of integrated fire management, and (3) to provide future fire scientists with opportunities to socialize and network. To achieve these goals, the conference will have two different parts. The first will consist of a field trip to areas of the Catalan hills where the Catalan Fire and Rescue Service is implementing integrated fire management strategies. The second, more conventional part will consist of presentations of the results of the projects carried out by PyroLife's early-stage researchers, alongside panel discussions, a workshop, a poster session, an exhibition and social events at the UOC.
