Program
Terra, Teca, Traca is a festival where art, science and rural life stand up together for the land that sustains us and the work of those who care for it and render it fertile (terra), and the food that nourishes us and brings us pleasure (teca), so imbuing the act of eating with political meaning. All this is done with a bang, to rattle and awaken people's conscience (traca). Where and how is food produced? Who produces it? What role does food play in the current systemic crisis? What are the alternatives? These are some of the questions that Terra, Teca, Traca will aim to address. Taking place in Barcelona, the current World Capital of Sustainable Food, the festival advocates food sovereignty and agroecology over today's industrial and globalized food system, with a message echoing across the rural and urban spheres.
Terra, Teca, Traca is a spin-off of a project with the same name. In fact, it is scheduled to kick off on Sunday 21 November at 12 noon (CET) with a presentation of the Terra, Teca, Traca project at the Barcelona Contemporary Culture Centre (CCCB). Through seven artistic residencies carried out in different rural areas of Catalonia, the project aims to spark critical reflection on the rural world's present and future, drawing on the interplay between rural, artistic and scientific players. The festival will be the residencies' chance to showcase their results to the public.
