Abstract
Digital media practices, such as texting, playing online games, scrolling social media, taking photos, can be part of the daily lives of older adults. Despite the ubiquity of these practices, they are often thought of as banal, insignificant or even meaningless. These mundane media moments make demands on our time, but they also contribute to shaping our world and relationships. What role do these practices play in the lives of older adults? How might they transform the ways we research digital media practices? In a context of a pandemic, how and where do we situate everyday encounters with technologies that may seem irrelevant?
