The UOC's president, Josep A. Planell, will be delivering the opening speech at the 11th International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN), the world's landmark event in this field, which is scheduled to take place from 29 November to 2 December.
IPIN 2021 is organized by the UOC's Faculty of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications and the Internet Computing & Systems Optimization (ISCO) research group at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3), in collaboration with Universitat Jaume I (UJI) and UBIK Geospatial Solutions.
The international conference is an opportunity to showcase the current state of the art and new developments in positioning and navigation technology, through a variety of presentations, posters and tutorials. As in previous years, research groups from all over the world will also have the chance to take part in a competition to see who has come up with the greatest new development.
The conference was meant to take place in Beijing last year but had to be cancelled. It is finally back and in Lloret de Mar instead of Barcelona, where it was originally scheduled to take place. The reason for this location change is to make it easier to comply with current COVID-19 restrictions.
Conference sponsors include companies such as Huawei and Nexus Geographics.
The event will take place both in person and online, so that anyone who is unable to travel due to restrictions in their home country can attend.
