If the cultural experience of the twentieth-century Catalonia was circumscribed by the ideological dimension of the defence of the national identity this was no less true of the assimilative part of the equation, marked by the commitment of successive generations of academics in this area. In keeping with the Eliotian directive to 'criticise the critic', it is the aim of this conference to assess the considerable contribution of the Catalan critical body in the twentieth century and analyse the nature, successes and failings of that enterprise. You are correspondingly invited to submit a paper (2000-4000 words) on any area related to this topic. This might take the form of an assessment of the career of one particular figure (for example, Joan Triadú, Joan Fuster, Joaquim Molas, Josep Maria Castellet, etc.) or a more general view of the tendency, or aspects of this (ie, the assimilation of specific authors or groups: Modernisme, Noucentisme, post-war literature, socialist realism, 'el crític militant', etc.) If you would like to offer a paper (in Catalan or English), please contact either of the conference editors at the address below. Si l'experiència cultural a la Catalunya del segle XX es va veure circumscrita per la dimensió ideològica de la defensa de la identitat nacional, la dimensió assimilativa d'aquesta equació també fou marcada pel compromís de vàries generacions d'acadèmics. Fent ressò de la directiva d'Eliot de ‘criticar al crític', el propòsit d'aquest congrés es el d'avaluar la considerable contribució del corpus crític català del segle vint i analitzar el caràcter, els èxits i les mancances d'aquesta empresa. Així, doncs, esteu convidats a presentar comunicacions (2000-4000 paraules) sobre qualsevol aspecte d'aquest tema. Poden ésser valoracions de la carrera d'un personatge en particular (per exemple, Joan Triadú, Joan Fuster, Joaquim Molas, Josep Maria Castellet, etc.) o visions més generals d'una certa tendència o d'un dels seus aspectes (com l'assimilació d'autors o grups específics: el Modernisme, el Noucentisme, la literatura de postguerra, el realisme social, ‘el crític militant', etc.) Si voleu oferir una comunicació (en anglès o català), poseu-vos en contacte amb els editors a les adreces que es donen a continuació.
